The historic yacht Zaca, which was owned in the fifties of the actor Errol Flynn, has revisited the Real Club Nautico de Palma (RCNP), were she has remained since August 24 until she sailed to France on the 10th of September.

The Zaca was based in the RCNP between 1955 and 1959, a period in which the Australian actor, famous for his roles in films such as The Adventures of Robin Hood (1939) and They Died with Their Boots On (1941) - and his wife, the actress Patrice Wymore, lived in a villa in Cas Catala known as Es Moli.

The Zaca, a spectacular 43-meter schooner auric long, was always a popular retreat for the actor, whose landfalls in the port of Palma are still remembered by the veterans of the club and some descendants of his crew. Flynn then used to mix with the Mallorquins and, it was not uncommon to find him having breakfast in the Borne in his shorts.

Flynn first came to Mallorca in 1950. he had recently been married to Patricia Wymore in Montecarlo and headed for Gibraltar, but a storm forced him to divert and seek refuge in Pollença. The north coast of the island was captivated immediately. From that time his visits to Palma were regular, until he established his home port in the Balearic capital.

The actor sparked interest in Mallorca for celebrities like Orson Welles, Johnny Weissmuller and Ava Gardner.

After his death in 1959, the Zaca was left to perish. In 1993 She reappeared in Monaco. Since then She has remained in the Mediterranean . Its current owner is Italian businessman Roberto Memmo.

Among other curiosities, the Zaca was on patrol in the bay of San Francisco and in the 30s provided a platform for a group of scientists who discovered more than 2,000 species after circumnavigating the globe twice. The ship was also used by Orson Welles to film The Lady from Shanghai.
