Broker's Comments

The original 'Vixen' was designed and built in 1950 for a family with a circumnavigation in mind. This was successful and so the plans became available and they still now in the care of Mystic Seaport and Vixen is still happily cruising the world.

We are not sure of the hull number of this particular Vixen Class Cutter, however she was built in 1957 by a yard in Risor, Norway and has definitely covered some distance, having changed hands in Bermuda in 1993. We are still researching her history but know she spent some time in the care of a shipwright in Mylor and you only have to look inside the lazarette locker to see the quality of construction and subsequent maintenance.

On deck she feels solid and safe, although there are plenty of lines as expected for her rig, she still seems uncluttered as you move around. The cockpit is snug with everything to hand and plenty of usable storage both in under seat lockers and the lazarette.

Down below she is fairly basic but appears sound and dry. She has good headroom and her traditional interior layout works well with maximum beam for the saloon area making her feel surprisingly spacious. There were works in progress and may be more sails and equipment in storage which I will add to the listing as they come to light but one thing to me is certain, this beauty will turn heads!
