Length over all is 65 feet.

Originally built in Vietnam in the '60s for a US naval officer, this schooner underwent an incredible 10-year refit completing in 2016. This involved taking the vessel down to a bare hull and constructing a new interior, cabin structure, pilot house, decks and rig based on a design by Tad Roberts, NA.

Hull Materials: The hull is built entirely of "Sao wood" a Vietnamese hardwood, an extremely strong, dense, and rot-resistant lumber. The hull was taken back to bare wood and completely refinished in 2018. Below the waterline the hull is caulked, and the topsides were splined in 2018 to create a seamless, durable exterior. The ballast keel is cast iron; sandblasted, epoxy coated and faired in 2021 to prevent corrosion.

Rudder and steering were completely replaced in 2016. Rudder is Hydrotek marine plywood laminated over solid nickel aluminum bronze stock with 3/4" nickel aluminum bronze stay bolts in compression over G10 tubes. Rudder design was a group effort by designer Tad Roberts, Pete Langley of PT foundry and Simon Miles of 206 Composites LLC. All stock interfaces are G Flex and the entire rudder was vacuum bagged with infused layup by Simon -- he was on Team Oracle and knows his stuff. New bronze rudder stuffing box and quadrant by PT foundry.

Decks: Replaced using ¾” Sapele plywood with 5/8 Douglas fir laminated over. The covering boards are Sapele, and sills around cabin trunk are Yellow Cedar. The sill was glassed prior to installation, then wrapped with 2 layers of 10oz cloth in West Systems epoxy. These high quality materials and hardwoods will ensure durability and longevity of service.

Bulwarks: Powder coated aluminum with Sapele cap rails.

New guards, main mast step and Boom kin: purpleheart.

Cabin sole and interior: Custom milled tongue & groove Angelique teak. Interior ceiling, cabin side, cabin beams and trim are all Silverballi, a tropical hardwood imported from South America. Cabin top is 3/4" Silverballi t&g with 1/4" Hydrotek meranti marine plywood with two layers of fiberglass over. All interior bulkheads are Hydrotek 3/4" plywood.

Pilot House: All Sapele hardwood with Port Orford Cedar T&G ceiling and 1/4" Hydrotek plywood with fiberglass over.

Spars: Main mast is laminated solid Douglas Fir. Foremast and booms are solid mahogany. Both spars were pulled and refinished in 2021. Bowsprit is original, Sao wood.

Tankage:
- One 130 gallon fuel tank, 12 Gauge 316 SS purge welded
- Two 35 gallon Polyethylene water tanks
- TORRID® 17 Gallon hot water tank
- One 50 gallon Polyethylene holding tank

Along with the extensive renovation of the vessel structure the interior was re-designed and fabricated out of exotic woods and top quality equipment while maintaining an authentic look in layout and equipment type chosen for installation.

Enter the vessel interior from the cockpit into the pilothouse salon. There is an array of instrumentation amidships to monitor systems and for communication. Good visibility is provided with wrap around windows. The pilothouse does not have a helm station or steering. There is settee sleeping for one. The mainmast is forward in this space and companionway stairs lead down and forward to the main cabin.

The L-shaped galley is to starboard as you enter the cabin. It features a Dickinson Adriatic diesel stove with a hot water coil (new 2013) and a 2 burner propane cast iron cook top positioned on the stove (new 2013). This permits a choice in the use of the diesel cook stove or the separate propane burners for meal preparation. Twin Isotherm stack-able built in refrigerator-freezers provide for cold storage. A deep double, hammered copper sink is forward in the galley. To port is a private cabin with a double berth.

To port is an L-shaped settee with a dining table. This settee would provide an additional berth possibility. To starboard is an opposite seat and an outboard pilot berth behind it. At the forward end of the seat is a cast iron Little Cod solid fuel stove (new 2013) in a proper enclosure. There is ample storage in hanging lockers and drawers throughout the main salon. Two overhead opening hatches provide light and ventilation along with new bronze portlights.

Forward to port is the marine toilet compartment. This features a Tecma 24v marine toilet (new 2023). A separate shower is set in a tiled tub enclosure.

Forward from here through a private entry is the forward cabin. This is traditionally laid out V-berth with sleeping for two. The anchor locker is forward and the foremast steps to the keel in this cabin.

- Dickinson Adriatic diesel stove (new 2013)
- 2 burner propane cast iron top on stove (new 2013)

Broker's Comments

Outstanding craftsmanship and design drove an extensive 10 year refit that addressed everything needed to upgrade this classic cruising schooner for world voyaging. Throughout this program care was taken to maintain authenticity while upgrading the vessel for voyaging safety at sea using modern equipment and materials.

From the keel up, every element of the original construction was evaluated and brought up to the highest contemporary standards. This included the "heavy lifting" associated with renewing the bare hull, fabricating a new rudder and steering system using high-tech materials and traditional bronze quadrant and components, building a new deck, house, cockpit, and complete interior with a layout optimized for comfortable living with a traditional feel.

The spars, rigging, sails, and navigation electronics were upgraded including a rig change from gaff to staysail type for easier sail management and flexibility offshore. The latest safety equipment is aboard including marine radios, AIS, and digital modem for WeatherFAX and Packet Radio via HF frequency communications. It's all there, well-thought-out and proven at sea on recent West Coast voyages.

Benefit from this costly, extensive refit and top quality design and fabrication found in this exceptional vessel. This is a turn-key opportunity to own a classic schooner that is ideal for living aboard in local waters or embarking on a cruising lifestyle for distant ports.
