A sparkling time had by all at Southampton Boat Show
After handing out 7400 glasses of Fizz@Five over the past 10 days, Team Boatshed have enjoyed meeting and chatting to thousands of visitors who attended the 2016 Southampton Boat Show.
With a mix of both Boatshed HQ team and brokers on the stand, we achieved the following results -
- 123 boats listed with values in excess of £6 million,
- Over 1300 entries into our win a Stand up Paddle board competition,
- 7400 glasses enjoyed during Fizz@Five,
- Over 25 members of the Boatshed team who left the show with big smiles and aching feet!
We welcomed friends of Boatshed -
We have also enjoyed hosting friends of Boatshed on the stand, these fantastic people came and shared their stories during Fizz@Five.
Jeanne Socrates
We are very fortunate to have spent the week chatting with Guinness World record holder Jeanne Socrates who at the sprightly age of 74, is about to embark on her third single handed non-stop circuit of the world.
Jeanne is fundraising for the RNLI, read more, donate and follow her progress through her website here.
Lisa Congdon
Lisa joined us to chat to both the Boatshed team and visitors to the stand about Naomi House & Jacksplace hospices.
These amazing facilities provide expert hospice care to more than 280 life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their extended families from Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Berkshire, West Sussex, Surrey and the Isle of Wight.

Dave Selby
Dave who writes for Practical Boat Owner magazine, sailed his 18ft Sailfish from Essex to Southampton and then hosted talks on how you don't need to have a lot of money to own a boat and enjoy sailing.
He said: “I want to share all that sailing has given me. There’s a myth that sailing is expensive. I bought my small boat in 2004 and it’s given me holidays of a life-time and opened up a world of adventure. Not bad for two-thousand quid. In fact, in the current market you can get afloat for a lot less.”
Dave suffers from a viral condition called Guillain-Barré Syndrome, which you can read more about here.
